2018 Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show

My first foray into the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show in March 2018 was a great success, placing second in the People’s Choice Award for the Achievable Garden section.

Co-designed with Gayle Brenchley, and using my expertise in tight spaces and knowledge of edible plants, the garden was a hit with all visitors. The crew and cast of Better Homes & Gardens also loved our creation, receiving the most airtime for its category.

True to my design ethos, while the garden was great to look at, its main purpose was to be functional. There was an array of some 40 edible plants, a cleverly integrated water tank that most people thought was an item of furniture, and an ingenious space saving design featuring a door that folded down into a table.

Using recycled water, timbers and low emission paint and with everything having more than one use, the design’s inspirations are rooted in the permaculture and sustainability mindsets and is perfect for those who are looking to reduce their carbon footprint.
